   Let's Fish!

On Friday ( 2-6-09)   I had the opportunity to take a day off work and go fishing on Lake Guntersville. Thanks to a friend of mine that lived in Guntersville at one time and knew alot of people in the area. I was directed to contact Bird Holland. It is the best thing I have ever done in my short fishing career. I have always been a bank fisherman for bass. This trip with Bird Holland taught me a lot about fishing humps, road beds and other structures away from the banks. Not only did I learn a great deal about where to fish, I also learned a little more about how to enjoy a day of fishing. From the start of our early morning day on the lake, Bird made me feel really comfortable about what he had planned for the day. I first thought I would be intimidated fishing with a guide, Someone who wouldn't have patience with someone like me. I have new reels and had not gotten to used to them when I had our trip set up. Bird was so understanding about the whole situation. After wasting a few minutes getting the bird's nests out of my reels and trolling over water without my lure doing anything, Bird calmed me down and let me know everything was going to be okay. Bird got me relaxed and I started to cast where he told me to and it was like it was meant to be. I got a hit at probably 3 out of every 5 casts. I have never been with anyone that uses a GPS system until this trip. Bird knew exactly where the fish were suspended on certain drop offs and it paid off. I could go on about the trip, but I'll end it with this... I caught 2 bass that weighed close to 3 pounds , one bass that weighed 6 pounds and a monster for me that weighed 7 pounds. When I got a letter from Bird Holland yesterday saying he had started a website for his guide service and asked me to contribute information about my trip (good or bad), I couldn't wait to share my experience that day. I can't wait to go back, especially when the grass fishing gets good at Guntersville. Just from our talking, I know that he can get me to where they are in the grass. I recommend anyone that wants a guide that knows this lake and has knowledge of the lake (even when I went) "cool weather" call Bird Holland. I just hope you do not schedule the day I want to go.

Thanks Bird for a great trip and I will tell every friend I have about the trip.

Recently a friend and I took a fishing trip with Bird.  We had a wonderful time, and Bird taught us techniques and lots of good ol' tricks he had for catching bass on Guntersville.  He makes it look easy.  Although if you are a die-hard bass fisherman like me, you know that it's definitely not easy most of the time.  I had always wanted to go fishing at Guntersville ever since I first saw it on tv.  So I booked a trip with Bird.
Don't go to Guntersville expecting to have a KVD type of day when you really know nothing about the lake.  Bird can provide you the trip of a lifetime.  Not only will you catch fish, you'll get to spend the day with a super good guy.  Even if you're not the greatest angler since KVD, you will get the same feeling he gets about Guntersville when you go with Bird.  So if you are like me, all you need to do is give Bird a call and book a fishing trip with him.
Lastly, I would like to personally thank Mr. Bird Holland for providing me with a fishing day that I soon won't forget.  I promise you one thing, my friend and I will be coming back.  Life is too short to not have more than one unforgettable day of fishing.

Thanks Again Bird,

Had the great pleasure of spending the day with " Bird Holland" bass fishing on Guntersville lake, and it's a trip I will never forget! A friend and I had always wanted to fish Guntersville  so we made the 400 mile trip from Kentucky after booking April 16th with Bird. The weather had been really bad in this area for awhile and the water temp. was not where it should have been but Bird knew what to do and put us on fish early in the day. He showed us a lot of different ways to catch them from points, humps, ripping rattletraps thru the grass, jerk baits, flats and believe me we caught fish all day long! Bird has fished the lake for over 30 years and there's no doubt he knows what he's doing, plus he's just a good ole country boy doing what he loves to do. So at the end of our day we caught over 40 fish, and the biggest was 8# so if you really like to catch fish "Bird" is the man to call, believe me I'll be back next year!

Thanks Bird,
